Executive Summary:

Air conditioning and refrigeration systems can be 20% + more efficient by removing what ASHRAE (American Society of Heating and Refrigeration Engineers) calls "compressor oil-fouling"; a coating of compressor oil that forms an insulating film of oil on the inner walls of air conditioning refrigeration tubing. Please review the ASHRAE "oil fouling" excerpt from the ASHRAE HVAC Handbook seen in the list of files below.

Refrigeration systems with mechanical compressors introduce 1/2% to 8% of their compressor lubricating oil into the refrigerant flow that is circulated throughout the system where the oil coats all the refrigerant tubing; oil-fouling can degrade system heat exchange efficiency and performance by up to 30% due to the insulating properties of compressor oils (see ASHREA paper). Mineral, alkylbenzene, ester POE, PAG, PAO, PVE and synthetic refrigeration compressor oils available today all cause oil-fouling, impeding heat exchange.

100% synthetic IceCOLD® acts as a catalyst to remove and eliminate the formation of oil fouling on refrigeration tubing inner wall surfaces without changing itself or the refrigerant or the compressor lubricating oil chemically with no negative effects on seals or bearings. See the SAE J laboratory report link below. This oil-fouling eliminator compound minimizes the "Vanderwaals forces" to lessen the surface tension of the compressor oil to prevent the compressor oil from attaching to the refrigerant tubing inner walls, thus eliminating the compressor oil fouling and minimizing the insulating effect on the heat exchange between the refrigerant and the heat exchanger coil tubing.

IceCOLD® contains a second synthetic catalyst that causes the refrigerant to evaporate at a lower temperature, further increasing equipment efficiency. IceCOLD® also contains a cutting-edge PAO synthetic lubricity compound that makes bearings last longer; The SAE laboratory report states that IceCOLD® gave the compressor oil 54% higher lubricity.

Note that IceCOLD® is NOT a "PROA"; nothing is polarized and IceCOLD® contains no destructive chlorine, sulfur or soap like PROAs do.

Since 2001, we have completed hundreds of installations with an average electricity cost savings of over 20%. Many customers have instrumented their own equipment and calculated the savings themselves. For example, the Fairfield Grand Desert Resort had a six month $41,000 electricity cost savings over the previous year, with 20% higher occupancy and 6 degrees hotter weather; Condesa Hotel's 650 ton chiller (500 rooms) showed a 15% decrease in KWH, Thousand Oaks Inn in Thousand Oaks California PTACs showed 36% efficiency increase, with 40% seen at the Hampton Inn. The 500-room Sunset Hotel's walk in refrigerator showed a 34% efficiency increase. Installations have been performed in just about every kind of business and HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

The York Air Conditioning Company conducted a pilot on a 25-story office building where the entire pilot process and data collection was performed by York engineers who reported a 28% KWH/BTU efficiency increase over a one-month period.

These savings are typical; your savings may not be as high as these but our performance guarantee promises you a 10% AC electricity cost savings or your money back.

Chillers, AC package units, PTACs, DX systems and walk-in and mobile refrigeration and freezer units can be treated with a cost effective payback of under a year and ROI return on investment of up to 600% and higher.

Some customers are mainly concerned with making their space colder. Such is the case with too-hot hospital operating rooms and computer rooms where IceCOLD® technology will yield cooler supply air temperatures without adding more expensive AC equipment that will just use more electricity.

We encourage you to evaluate installation of IceCOLD® technology throughout your facilities; the electricity operating cost savings will be substantial throughout the life of the equipment as IceCOLD® is installed only once.

Our analysts will calculate the electricity savings you can expect and the cost of installing the technology. We provide a free calculation of your future electrical expenses and recommend numerous ways to minimize electricity use and cost without diminishing service levels.

We invite you to visit our consumer web site at www.icecoldtechnology.com

We look forward to working with you and your staff to discuss installing IceCOLD® technology to reduce your AC operating expenses.

Sincerely,

David R. Pickett, Managing Partner
